2008 Season Summary

2008 was another strong year for the FSU women's soccer program who posted the best overall record in school history losing only 2 games on the season.  The 16-2-4 record represented the 15th winning season in the 15 year history of varsity women’s soccer at FSU - but the 2008 season was bittersweet.  Frostburg appeared in their 10th consecutive AMCC championship game but lost the AMCC title in a penalty kick shootout and after 3 ECAC games in which Frostburg did not allow a goal, lost the ECAC Championship final in another penalty kick shootout.
The 2008 team was defined however, by the leadership of 3 outstanding Seniors.  All 3 started all 22 games in 2008 and led FSU to the best defensive team performance in school history.  Tori Walter, Tricia Richarson, and Jackie Donovan led an FSU team that allowed only 8 goals on the season -  7 goals less then the next-best defensive team ever at FSU.   Only 7 teams in the nation, across all 3 NCAA Divisions, had a better defensive record than FSU in 2008.
