2007 Media Guide

2007 Season Summary

2007 was another strong year for the FSU women's soccer program.  FSU defeated their 2nd nationally ranked opponent in school history on Sept. 21st when they defeated Johns Hopkins at home 4-1.  That result, and a 15-1-1 finish to the regular season, put FSU into the NSCAA Great Lakes Regional rankings for the final 6 weeks of 2007.  In the post season, FSU lost a dissapointing game to Penn-St-Behrend in the AMCC Championship match but recovered from that result to defeat Carnegie Mellon at home in the 1st-Round of the ECAC South Region Tournament.  It was only the 2nd time that FSU had hosted an NCAA or ECAC post-season women's soccer match at FSU, and the 2nd time FSU prevailed.  Swarthmore defeated FSU and captured the ECAC title but Frostburg had won 16 games on the season, 2nd most in program history, and had won a post-season NCAA or ECAC game for only the 3rd time in school history.  With a solid young team and only 3 true Seniors on the roster, the program is poised to continue to raise the bar in coming years.
